Hi, my name is Adina Pilchick. This year I will be running in memory of Talia.
This summer I went to Israel to donate 18 inches of my hair. I sponsored a grand breakfast for the entire cancer ward of children in the hospital. We arranged for a magician to come and we danced with the patients . I went around to the rooms and handed out breakfast to the sick children who couldn’t come out. In addition, we gave out gifts, and this is where Talia comes in. About a month before I came to Israel, Talia was told that there was nothing they could do to save her. She had not spoken to anyone since. When I came in and handed her a huge gift, we connected immediately. The first words she said in a month was “can I give you a hug?” All the staff came running to hear of the miracle! They were shocked to hear her asking me if she can hug me. And that smile I'm wearing till today! About two weeks ago I received a call from one of her nurses that Talia had passed away. How I wish I got to spend more time with her, but Talia, I will carry your smile forever, because you showed me that even when we are in pain, we can still smile.
